Det som Purtill i citatet ovan säger om Frodo och Gandalf som kristusgestalter gäller naturligtvis även Aragorn. Han är inte Kristus utan en kristusgestalt som förmedlar vissa aspekter av Kristus. Märkligt nog tar Purtill, vad jag minns, inte upp Aragorn i sammanhanget, även om han leder våra tankar åt Aragorns håll genom att nämna den där kungen.
Jag skulle nog säga att det är just messiasaspekten som är den viktigaste vad gäller Aragorn. Men det aktuella avsnittet med den offervillige Aragorn är ett annat exempel. Just denna offeraspekt verkar dessutom vara något som förenar de tre kristusgestalterna Aragorn, Frodo och Gandalf
Men det finns säkert många fler saker att ta upp. Joseph Pearce upprepar exempelvis Purtills tanke i en lexikonartikel:
